Alan C. Wilkins is a musician always seeking to inspire the diverse population of music lovers. Alan's musical background is just as diverse as the population that enjoys his music; his music is influenced from jazz, inspirational, funk, rock, and his deep roots in gospel music. His latest EP ‘Resonate exemplifies such qualities, yet creates a seamless music journey.  Comprised of elevating chord progressions and rich harmonies, Resonate isn't just musically pleasing, but also encourages deep thought and conveys deliberate messages through each song.

 

Alan C. Wilkins, a musician and dedicated educator, who draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of musical influences ranging from jazz and gospel to funk and rock. Born in Norfolk, VA, Alan's musical journey began at the age of 5, singing in church choirs and later honing his skills on the saxophone, which he embraced at the age of 12. 

Alan pursued his passion for music as a multi-instrumentalist at the University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, PA, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance and a Masters Degree in Music Education. Under the mentorship of acclaimed instructors such as Michael Pracker, Ronald Kerber, Anthony Salicondro, and Chris Farr, Alan developed a deep understanding of musical theory and performance, shaping him into a skilled professional musician whose main instruments of choice are saxophone and piano. 

Alan has recorded and released Resonate and Lullabies for Lily-Jean which showcases his diverse musical palette with elevating chord progressions and rich harmonies that not only delight the ears but also provoke deep contemplation with each song. This musical diversity is further reflected in his leadership of The Wilkins’ Trio, a dynamic ensemble known for their captivating performances featuring guitar, piano, or vocals.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Alan is deeply committed to education as a full-time educator for Trenton Public Schools teaching at Hedgepeth/Williams M.S. of the Arts and currently at Holland Middle School.. There, he inspires and mentors students in music, empowering them to achieve their goals and fostering a love for the arts.

Alan's musical talents extend beyond the classroom and stage. He is a freelance musician where he’s been on tour with Bradd Marquis, interpreting the timeless music of Sam Cook, a side man to the group Arnetta Johnson & Sunny, recording placements with well-known and local artists, and has been performing in the private entertainment industry for over fifteen years.. He is also a valued member of Brassanity Hornz, renowned for their performances with notable artists, and contributes to Freshfire, a band celebrated for their unique rock-like style.

Through his music and teaching, Alan C. Wilkins continues to touch the lives of a diverse audience, sharing his passion for music and inspiring others to embrace the power of creativity and expression.
